Hello, I’m Catherine.
I’m a qualified counsellor offering confidential one-to-one counselling sessions from my private practice in Chorley, Lancashire, as well as online and telephone, to suit your needs.
Reaching out for support can feel daunting, especially when you’re struggling - but you don’t have to face things alone. I offer a calm, safe and welcoming space where you can talk openly and freely, without fear of judgement or repercussions. This is your time to focus on you - to find clarity, peace and the strength to move forward and create positive change.
Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, low mood, grief, trauma or life’s everyday challenges, I’m here to support you. As a person-centred counsellor, I work in a way that’s tailored to you. I also have training in trauma-informed approaches and Solution Focused Brief Therapy, allowing us to explore both the past and practical steps forward, depending on what you need.
Alongside my private practice, I work for NHS Talking Therapies and have previous experience with a large Employee Assistance Programme. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) work in line with their professional standards and ethical framework.
About me
My journey into counselling began through some of the most difficult chapters of my life - navigating the end of a marriage, raising two young children as a single parent and surviving a violent armed robbery that left a deep impact on both my mind and body. These experiences forced me to pause and reflect on my mental health for the first time. I found myself asking why was I reacting the way I was, both emotionally and physically - and that question led me down a path of self-discovery and healing.
Through my own therapy and training, I came to understand the incredible connection between our life experiences and how we cope, survive and adapt. I became fascinated about learning how trauma and poor mental health shapes us and how we can heal from it - growing stronger, even when life feels like it’s falling apart.
I now support others through their own pain, confusion and transitions - with empathy, authenticity, and the belief that every person has the potential to find meaning, resilience, and hope again. I bring both lived experience and professional understanding to my work, creating a safe, compassionate space where you can explore your story and feel truly heard.
